There is a horribly loud clicking noise that is coming from the bottom rear of my motor or the front of the tranny. It is not consistant and increases in intensity when I accelerate. It is loud enough to hear from in side the car. Does any body have a good idea of what it is and how much trouble I am in.

I the plastic cover for the flexplate/flywheel secured?

Sometimes a piece of it will jam up against the starter gears and make a terrible noise.
