My engine has always knocked when I acclerate hard. I replace the knock sensor and it didn't seem to help. I adjusted the timing and stopped it, but shortly after that the injectors messed up and I had to replace several. Was that just a coincidence? It it okay to adjust the timing in this manner. The engine has nearly 200k on it. It runs fine other than valve guide smoke in the morning.

my iroc used to knock like crazy under acceleration. i put a new timing chain on and its been fine ever since. with that many miles on it, the chain is probably stretched and the fiberboard type material that they use for the teeth on the cam sprocket gets cracks in it as well. just from my own experience, but thats what helped me.
