Oil Cooler Question
I got the oil cooler off the old engine, and I picked up a new set of hard lines to put between the oil cooler and the soft lines on the frame. The problem is, I forgot to put them on the block before I dropped the block onto the mounts. Now it looks like i'm going to have to raise the engine off the mounts to get the hard lines in there. I don't wanna do that right now cause the engine swap has taken so long already. My question is.... if I connect the two soft lines on the frame and leave the oil cooler on the block without those lines hooked up will it be ok? I'm pretty sure it will be cause it just means no coolant is running through the oil cooler. The coolant doesn't mix with the oil so I know the oil won't leak out. I just wanna get the car runnin, then I can get it into a garage where it's warmer and put the lines on.
I read up on this in previous posts and saw that some people are a little unexperienced in these coolers. Some people apparently don't understand the concept of the coolant running to the coiler instead of oil running to the radiator. It is a confusing design, and it's prolly not the best, but hey every little bit helps.
Thanks for any help
