Will these pistons fit?

I am building a 400 and was wondering if these pistons will fit with my Pink rods that I I got out of a 350 engine. It says that they are for a 5.7" rod which is what the 350's have. So I am assuming that they will work. I hope they do because I want something with lower compression so that I can run a supercharger later on.

They will if you are building a 377.
With the 400 crank they might stick out of the hole just a little bit.

So where can I find some reasonably priced lower compression forged pistons for my 400. I am correct when I say that a 400 uses a 5.7" rod, right? Doesn't it also use a 3.75" stroke crank, and a 4.125" bore?

400 uses a 5.565" rod, not a 5.7

A 400 uses a 5.565 rod which, not by coincedence, is shorter by half the difference in strokes between the 350 and 400 crank. 350's use a 5.7 rod.

edit- B+B beat me to it.

Maybe something like this? I will want something forged and lower CR but theoretically it will work, right?

Those look like they have the right pin height.

no they dont. read the description. they are for a 377 (3.48" stroke/5.7 rod) or a 400 using STOCK 5.565" rods. they will not work on a 5.7" rod 400. you'll end up with pistons hanging .135" out of the hole.

I know that is why I said "maybe these (pistons) and using aftermarket forged rods"

use a piston specifically designed for a 5.7" rod. it will reduce wear in the cylinders, as well as making the engine less prone to detonation.

i'd be careful supercharging with a CR that high...

Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350
Axle/Gears: 8.5", 3.42
Those second pistons you picked at Summit are the ones you want.

Specifications:
* Bore: 4.155 in.
* Stroke: 3.750 in.
* Rod length: 5.700 in.

Sounds like what you have, right?

BackInBlack is right about the CR. Be careful how much PSI you run.
