thanks...
I have tried both of those... was a great reply though
Today I installed the new distributor, started it up and it worked fine. I had some error codes in from before, so I turned off the ignition, stuck in my new GM code scanner, and put it back on--my fans turned on (is that bad?) and I recorded a 34 error, which is some MAF code. Now my car wont start, it wont even crank, Im thinking this scanner shorted out something, I don't think my fans were supposed to come on when I hooked it up, none of my friends did either. Any ideas?

Rezinn,
The scanner shouldn't have caused any damage, and the fan(s) normally run when in diagnostic mode. As long as you didn't try to crank the engine when the scanner was installed, there should be no damage to the ECM.
If it won't even crank, there is a problem with the safety interlocks, VATS, fuse/fusible links, or starter. Get it cranking first, then take it from there.
If you think you might have damages or "scrambled" the ECM by cranking while the scanner was installed, try disconnecting the battery for about ten minutes (long enough to clean the cables and terminals), then reconnect it. This should clear all RAM and error codes.

How do I test the starter/wiring/solenoid while they are in the car?
Going outside now, no bad fuses as of yesterday, my battery has been disconnected for a whole day.
