purple wire goes to the post marked "S".
Battery cable and 4 other wires with a big end go to the middle, bigger post

Is there a wire that goes to the post marked "R"?
I don't see an extra wire available, and I don't recall taking a wire off the 3rd , little post or not.

Any help is appreciated.

 

It's not used on my 87.

 

R is used when hooking up a remote solenoid.
