can valve springs be too strong?
This may seem kinda strange cause most people seem to ask if their springs can handle the lift, but i need to know the opposite...
will it be alright if i get springs rated to .510 with a cam with only .462, .469?
thanks

To answer your original question, yes, valve springs can be too strong. So strong they could damage the rocker arms, camshaft, or pushrods. But your specific application. You should be all right, if anything, that spring pressure will help prevent valve float.

Yes, they can. I would contact the cam manufactuer to find out what is an acceptable open pressure. If they're too stiff you'll most likely wipe a couple lobes off the cam as well as some other issues.
