how much lift can lg4 heads handle?

Im going to add a holley intake to my lg4 and since i have the intake off I figured id do a cam swap and a new timing chain. The car has 194,000km on it but has solid compression across all cylinders. I don't want to touch the heads and was wondering what cam I should go with.

Edit: Moderators I didn't know where to put this so move it if need be.

This is ralated to the engine, so I would put it in the tech/general engine section.

If you are planning a cam swap, I would definately recommend getting new valve springs as well. The stock ones can't handle very much lift and would be too weak for any decent cam. Get whatever springs the manufacturer recommends for the cam.

As for which cam, look into the COMP Cams XE-256 or the more extreme (for a 305) XE-262. Also check out the Crane Cams PowerMax 260. Any of those cams would work well in a 305 with free flowing exhaust (pocket porting and a 3-angle valve job wouldnt hurt either ).
