want to change accesory bracket setup, possible to make water pump spin opposite way?
my car has the serpentine setup, but i want to get rid of the passenger side bracket (the one with the smog pump, a/c and the belt tensioner).
to do this, all i have to do is get a smaller belt, and run it the opposite way on the water pump. but...i have a brand new (well like 3k miles on it) edelbrock water pump, and i really dont want to get rid of it(it was kinda expensive). is there any possible way to make it go the other way?
now, it is a "reverse rotation" pump, so i guess i need a regular rotation, which i odnt think they make in the newer serpentine style.
can i just get a new impeller or whatever the hell it is? anyone have any ideas? or does anyone know of a place to get aftermarket belt setups? thanks a lot.

Getting an impeller is going to be really fun, thats one of those parts that you wont see anywhere.
Most of the time the bearing gets damaged taking the old impeller off, and you have to have a press to do it.
I cant remember what the clearance is like, but maybe you can run it along the water pump and then to the alternator and get away with it. Another thing is that there is no adjustment on a serpentine setup, so getting a belt on there and keeping it tight is going to be fun as well.

See if you can get some sort of a/c delete pulley to preserve the factory belt routing and keep headaches to a minimum.
