every now and then my car will rattle and mak shshing sound sec on sec off
could this be the dampener?
soemtimes it makes a squeeking sound too
one sec on one sec off
anf it gets fster or slower according to engine speed...

some opinion or

I wonder if your car only does this when the defrost or A/C is on? You say that it's like one sec on, one sec off. It sounds like it may be doing it when your compressor is cycling. You might have a clutch going out on the compressor, or your belt tensioner might be going south. I've noticed the belt tensioner gets noisy on some cars when the compressor cycles because it puts a lot more drag on the drive belt. Just a couple of things you might want to check into.
