Blown intake gasket?????

Has anyone had this problem....
I have an 87 iroc 305, i noticed the antifreeze was disappearing so i put it up on the pit to investigate and noticed that on the rear passenger's side of the engine near the distributer was a nice river of fresh coolant. it looked like it was coming out between the intake and block, is this common/hard to fix.... i don't mind doing the work i just don't want to waste my time doning an intake gasket to find out it was something else....

That definately sounds like an intake gasket leak. Yes its a very common problem, I've had to replace intake manifold gaskets on several of my cars. Its not too hard to fix, just be sure to get the distributer back in correctly. Sometimes the coolent will leak up around the intake bolts too, if thats the case try putting some #2 permetex on the bolt and putting it back in. Usually you have to end up replacing the gasket but maybe you will get lucky and its just leaking around the bolt. Good luck
