Putting in a new fuel pump?
Well the Gta won't start up at all! It turns over, but I can't hear the fuel pump running anymore, so I guess it's time to drop the tank. Does anybody have any tips, or tricks to make this big job go easier? This is my first time dropping the fuel tank on one of these cars. I have read about it, and it sounds like a *****-f@#ker, so any help would be appreciated.

It went easier for me than I expected after reading about it here. Things I'd do differently are:
* I spent some time scheming up a way to use the track bar brace as a fulcrum to lower the tank down slowly. Turns out that if you can get it empty, it's not that heavy. My pump still ran, so I jumpered the fuel pump relay and drained the tank. I had a little trouble manuvering it out of the car without bending the filler neck, but once you figure out how to twist it, it slips right out.
* Don't even waste time taking the suspension apart one piece at a time. I screwed around for a while trying to slip the tank past the axle without unhooking the brake hose, etc. Next time I'll just unhook everything, drop the axle down to the floor, and get the muffler out of the way before even starting on the tank.
While it was out, I had my filler neck joint resoldered as it was in bad shape. No recall for 86s, tho.
