Is this plug good?
I am feeling some surging in my car in 2nd and 3rd gear at the track, and on the street... not really noticably in 4th gear because i am never at WOT in 4th. so i checked the temperature of my header primary tubes of each cylinder with a laser thermometer. cylinder 3 and 4 were both around 300-315 F* while the rest were about 400-425 F*.... so i pulled plug number 3 and this is what it looks like... i would describe the color as a light light brownish white.... and there was a lil bit of oil on the threads of the plug... here are 2 pictures.... any ideas?

here is a pic of #1
all 8 really look the same.... a lil bit of oil around the threads... but nothing to be concerned about... i do not think.... there was slightly more oil on #3 than the rest of them though... the color on all 8 are about the same also

Looks like white hot ash, Id go one plug range cooler/ make sure your other Ign parts are up to specs. Are you running any additives in your gas???
I have noticed on both my 2nd and 3rd gen that they sometimes need good full tune up, even when its not needed.
2 times I spent week and tossing money at problems
when some 98 cents plugs or $15 wires, fixed everything, even though it wasn't anywhere near time for it.

put an ohm-meter on them and compare to the others.
If you think they are running lean then take your injectors to someone with an injector flow bench & get them flowed.
The oil consumption will have to be checked eventually as well. It could be seals, guides, or blowby.

Gumby, I dont think he meant to sound nasty about it, he is just asking where he can get cheaper plugs/wires. Maybe he doesnt know that there are other cheaper stuff out there, I dont know, but I dont think he was trying to have an attitude.
IROCof88, theres really no need to spend that much for plug OR wires. You can get cheap plugs and a cheap set of wires from any auto parts store that will do the same job. No offense but that is waayyyy too much to spend on a plug, and wires for that matter. I think in most cases, those expensive spark plugs have been proven to not perform much if any better than the cheap ones. At least not any advantage or gain that you will see or notice.

OK Ill edit my post. It read as if you were mad, like I was dissing your car or setup/parts.
98 cents plugs are usually champion, wouldn't use em but in a lawnmower.
on my 2nd gen I spend $100's on new IGN parts but some cheap 98 cents plug fixed it up. It was no where time for new plugs, the old ones looked fine but as a last ditch effort, they fixed everything.
My 3rd gen I spent weeks chasing codes, replacing relays, checking pressure and flow. 3 stock coil and then some $15 autozone wires fixed everything. Wasn't even time for it but I was back on my original accell coil and all my driving and leaking coil problems went away.
For me , its seams our cars eat Ign parts like candy at times./ the Ign system is so picky, a tiny flaw mucks it up.
Your plugs look blistered white hot. Id run a 1 step colder plug in it for a week or so, maybe just use some cheap champion plugs just for the test. but only if the other parts are up to specs.
Then see what the color is. But I'm betting your other Ign parts are up to snuff and them $3 plugs are to hot. Or you could be lean. But I kind of assume its not.

I do like accell plugs. They are the only one that I have found that last. Never an early foul and solid performance till the end. NGK are good but even in my bike I can gas flood and kill a new plug asap. I find the accell plugs worth the extra money for how long they last. Other wise AC plugs are fine.
Lots of car came with 8.0 or higher plug wires stock. Them cheap $15 autozone wires match the stock wirer needed. My 86 bird is 7mm, sisters 94 ford something gets 8mm, same price, same wire.
But even cheap 98cent plugs and $15 wires can work well, just change them more often.
