open/closed heat crossover
hi,
i want to install the torquer heads and they say i can use either a felpro 1256 (open) or 1204 (closed) intake gasket.
the metal plate at the felpro is in the middle, but at the original it is on the left. and only at the drivers site intake.
the original gasket is blocked. but what will happen, if i install one with an open crossover?
and why is it closed at all. i think the coolant flows through this?
nebu.

do u mean the smaller sized rectangular port, smaller than all the others, located right in the middle of the heads? in between the pair of larger rectangular ports? if the gasket has a provision for this smaller port then it would be fine if you wish to remain emissions legal and without a ses light.

the felpro gasket has a metal plate with a little hole in it (or completly closed) in the middle of the head. but the original has a closed port at the left side of the head.
for what is this metal plate good?

the metal plate is just used as restriction. hence it is called a restricter. i've never used one when replacing the intake gaskets with any ill effects.

it is used for egr purposes only. so no overheating should come from not using the restrictor. anyone else care to comment?
