What type of tool to disassemble fpr??
Ok for TPI, the stock fpr has those evil little modified torx bits. I saw the post where Pat went through hell with them and was just wondering what the correct tool to use on them is, or should I not take them out b/c they will break? I was just going to shim the fpr until I have the spare $$$ for an afpr so any advice is appreciated.

If I remember correctly, it's a T-10 torx security bit you'll need.

The bolts I broke were the TPS mounting bolts on my old TBI unit. The ones on your FPR should come undone without too much trouble. You do need a special torx bit though. They put a little tit right in the middle of the torx head so you can't use a regular torx bit. I don't know how hard it is to find the security torx bits at your local parts store, but I know I got one with my adjustable regulator from TPIS. You could probably buy just the bit from them if you contacted them and asked. The bit that came with my AFPR has the initials "TPIS" stamped in the side of it. Also, I do know that Snap On sells these bits. My old boss at the shop I used to work at had a set of them from Snap On. Hope this helps.

Why would you go to all that trouble and not convert to an adjustable FPR? The easy instructions are in this file:
AFPR.pdf
The cost of conversion is about 55¢, and if you have enough cash for the $30.00 intake gasket set, the extra 55¢ shouldn't break you.

well I don't have a brazing rod and my goal is to drive the car soon...since it's been three weeks. Thanks for the file I remember seeing it before. When the weather gets a little warmer I'm definitely doing it. I doubt I'll have the car at WOT until spring anyway...
