are these combos crap
ok, so i am swapping out my 305 for a 350. I have been looking into the trick flow engine kits. They are the ones found in Summits Racing catalog. The one i want is rated at 420 horse and 395 torque if i use a holly 750 and a edlebrock victor jr. intake. Are these trick flow combos any good. Has any one had experience with them. Plus trick flow doesnt say what kind of pistons they use. I was also thinking about using my tpi set-up on this combo. I was told that my tpi set-up, stock will onlly flow up to 190cfm. I was also told that the rule of thumb is 2hp per cfm. So what would i need to do to make my tpi cabable of supporting a little over 400 horse.
thanks
thanks

The StealthRam would work; also the SuperRam, MiniRam and ProRam (lots of ramming here) would do it, or a modified LT1 intake. TPI in any form, modified or otherwise, will not. IMHO, the MiniRam or LT1 setup would be the best way to go, closely followed by the StealthRam. I would not use a SuperRam on anything I had to work on myself, or pay somebody else by the hour to work on. You may have alot more money than me to spend on such things; but that's for you to decide.
Trick Flow heads require special attention to the piston-to-valve clearance and cam lift. The way they get their flow is by relocating the valves from the stock position, which in turn creates this situation. Get their recommendations before you buy anything.

irocfreak,
Be advised the Trick Flow kits in Summit do not include pistons. They are a top end kit with heads, gaskets, crappy non roller cam, and rockers.
Just letting you know if you didn't already,
Later,
Charlie
