Is there a problem with your valve? My opinion is to leave it there. In the summer hot water will still flow through your heater core. This can creat extra heat under the dash which is not good considering the air box resides close to the ecm. Secondly I do not know if the heater core can take hot weather pressure. It seems like replacing a heater core is a common operation in our thirdgens. Any additional strain that can be avoided could save you some headaches in the long run. Just my .02$

What about getting rid of the heater core and box? Can you? Do you drive in weather two cold to live without it? My heater doesn't work, and I want to get rid of it. It's not hooked up at all. But I live in CA, so I can. There will be alot more room also.
