a couple rebuild kit questions

i'm rebuilding an 87 350 truck block. i'm thinking of getting a kit from northern auto parts for $150+ upgrades.
its for an 81-85 block but i'm going to be putting heads and an intake from an older block on. would that work? i know i'd have ot get a 1 peice rear seal and a oil pan gasket for a later block but would anything else be different?

also, would it be worth the few extra bucks to get molly rings? what do molly rings do? what about clevite bearings? are they better than federal mogul?

here is the page its at,

you're right on gaskets, guess the ring up grade depends on how you define worth it, same for the bearings

A typical rubber oil pan gasket is reusable, look for cracks and rips if its clean re-use it save $35 bucks. I re-used my gasket at least a dozen times with no leaks until last time when it ripped. A bearing upgrade and ring upgrade just depends on what you want from the engine or how heavy your wallet is.

The rings and bearing are better. The moly rings will have less friction and cylinder wall wear. The bearings are coated so they are less likely to fry at a SHORT loss of oil pressure.
