Redoing a 350...
Hey i have a general question... i am looking into redoing my 350, and i was wondering if you have redone a 350, what you paid for the machining... like boring, balancing, blue printing, ect...
i have a opertunity right now, that i am thinking about taking, but dont know the costs involved. Basically i have a local machine shop that will do some machine work for my services in building them a website. I dont know if this is worth it or not. Any and all input is appreciated.
thanks

I wouldn't try to put a monetary value on the trade.

You have a service they need, and they have a service you need.
Both of you want the other to do the best job possible.
You get what you want and they get what they want.
What more could you want?
I wish I could line up some kind of a trade like that with my local machine shop.
Besides, it's nearly impossible to give you exact figures anyway. A few machine shops within a radius of 100 miles can have prices so different it's crazy.

Just to give you a quick idea...
My 1 pc rear main 350, .030" overbore, grind & polish crank .010" under on rod and main journals, hot tank, hone w/ torque plate, install new cam bearings, freeze plugs, and threaded oil plugs cost me $400 just for machining.
That's not including $56 to press on the pistons, $130 to resize rods and install new ARP bolts that I already have, balance the rotating assembly, or the $180 to have the heads resurfaced and new 3 angle valve job.
