those with performer rpm power package
I was wondering if anyone has built the full edelbrock performer RPM package, I'm building it for my 355 and I was wondering what head work had to be done in order to get everything working right. thanks for your help

The assembled Performer RPM heads should work "out of the box"
to reach the advertized HP level.
If the rest of the motor is built to spec.
They have good Torquey flow and volocity.
You can take 'em apart and do some further port blending etc if you want. They respond nicely to porting too. There is a "New version" of this head out now, with
New and Improved ports and chamber.
You can improve on the "Performer RPM Cam"
A Comp Cams XE 284H10 will make more power.
I'd just get the RPM heads and intake and buy a simular sized Comp or Crane, or Lunati hyd cam.

When did those new RPM heads come out? I bought me a pair of Performer RPMs like 6-8 months ago...damn I hope I got the new ones.
As far as those heads go...yeah I have them on a different engine (302), but I can say they're AWESOME. Those heads, a mild cam, and roller rockers alone gained me a large chunk of horsepower. If it's tuned right it makes great low end torque but the thing will scream all the way up through 6,000 rpms without a problem.

My first wicked motor was the performer RPM setup but with a holley carb. it was great until the tranny blew.. and the whole car went downhill from there.
Im still using the heads.. but now they are ported and have a valve job and different valves and all sorts of little changes.
I have TPI on top of the heads right now, and an XE262 cam. It runs decent..
My plans however are switching to a stealthram, Solid Roller, and adding a D-1SC. Im hoping the heads small runner volume(170CC) dont hold me back too much or ill have to throw some AFR's on the motor.
