Totalled 4th gen

How hard do you think it would be to find a totalled 4th gen Camaro and rip out the engine & tranny to be transplanted into a 3rd gen?

Also, how much would you probably pay for a totalled 4ht gen?

Thats cool. So it would be fairly easy to find one?

there is a junkyard here in the bay area that has tons and tons of used lt1's and ls1's. also ive seen a number of webistes for junkyards around the US that have those engines. it is a rip off here, like 2000-3000 depending on the mileage. hope u can find something alot cheaper.

Get friendly with the guys at your local tow companies. You can get killer deals there all the time. I got my old 91z (sold now) from one for $1000 and it had a 350. After about $300 it was driveable and after another $1000 to fix the trans, add runners+catback+tpi lower intake it ended up running a 14.22 while burning off the tires.

Point is, they tow cars in all the time that the owner or insurance co. never claims. OR if you know a car dealer you can get into a copart (www.copart.com) auction and get a killer deal on a wrecked car.

Your post don't say where you're from, but Billy Graham in Georgia has an entire junkyard of only 4th gen f-bodies and their drivetrains. He's got a website, but don't have it at the moment. Look in the back of hot rod magazines, his add is there regularly, and you can usually transplant the entire drivetrain, including harness, etc. Aside from that, most local yards will want quite a bit for a complete LT1/LS1 drivetrain, especially if you're talking about the T-56.
