Did a 4 hr port job, put heads on, engine not running right
L98, TPI, stock cam, stock lifters roller
Took my 083 heads off and did some bowl blending, reassembled everything as it was with new valve guide seals. Set lash by taking piston to TDC on firing stroke, turned nut till slight tightness on pushrod, then 1/4 turn more. That was with engine not running.
Car runs, able to set initial timing at 8 degrees btdc.
Car won't idle, feels boggy at low rpms. I can get it on the street and will run fine at high rpms cruising around in 1st or 2nd gear. I don't trust the seat of the pants feel, but it seems to pull fine.
Have to have the car running at about 1500-2000 rpm for smoothness
Valve lash too tight? Lifters not pumped up when set?
Is there Something else I should look into?

Found a vacuum leak. Helped quite a bit. Running better now. Think there is one off and on vacuum leak associated with this TPI that is starting to get on my nerves.
If the car ever stalls out and begins to cut off, though...I hear one or two rockers hitting my valve covers. Stock rockers. Valve lash not tight enough?
