85 TA SPEED LIMITER
Well.. while the 4500rpm in drive isn't quite normal... the 3500 in OD is about right, unless you have a modified tranny that lets you run at WOT in OD.

What speed are you at at 3500 on OD?
My 86 carbed T/A doesn't have a limiter as far as I know.
I've gotten my car up to almost 160mph a couple of times. I did 145mph last night for some odd reason, new years eve is not the safest night to run fast.

i only have an 85 mph speedo so i dont know how fast, i can only guess about 115-125. once i shift into od i can run w,o,t and it wont kick down as long as i hold 3rd til it maxes out.
Kevin,
The speed limiter programming is a function of vehicle speed ssensor input, not the engine RPM directly.
The speed limiters on cars equipped with non-Z rated tires are set at around 118 MPH. Cars equipped with Z-rated tires are rumored not to have a speed limit programmed in, but this is not entirely true. The ECM requires some number in the memory address for fuel cut-off, or the car wouldn't run. GM entered teh maximum number in that address - 254. In essence, not many ThirdGens are going to see that limit, so there is effectively no limit.
