engine swap /throttle and kickdown linkage
i am thinking about swaping my 305 tpi for a 350 carb motor. do i need new linkage for throttle and kickdown? or just new brackets?

Your best bet would probably be to get the cables and brackets off a carbureted third gen. The TPI cables are pretty long since they attach at almost the front of the engine. I'd have my doubts about how well they would work with a carb. Maybe someone else on this board who has performed this swap can tell you for sure.

You can buy both of the cables new at the dealer for less than $20 each; get them for something like a 84 Z28 with the H (LG4) motor. That way theu are pretty much guaranteed to be the right ones. The various carb mfrs. supply the correct brackets and linkage pieces to hook up properly to those cables.
