Speedometer died
Okay after gettin in my car today and driving to work i noticed my speedo doesnt move anymore. on friday it worked but to day nothing and i havent driven the car since friday night coming home from work. the cable used to make a squeeling/squeeking noise for the past 3 yrs. any chance the cable broke inside? id like to get this fixed soon if possible. right now im relying on my rpms and judgin my speed.
The same thing happened to me once. Mine was in a Firebird, so I didn't have a mechanical cable, but what had happened was the little clip that holds the drive speedo gear to the tailshaft of the transmission broke. This let the drive gear flop around in the tailhousing and not engage the driven gear. In the process it also chewed up my speedo gears a little bit. It could be your cable, but if not, it may be worth checking the speedo gears.

yeah thats what the master tech at work said that it might have been the speedo that died, becuz they make more noise then the cable would.
