a friend of mine has a 89 iroc that wont start,it has power, it will crank with a remote starter and will start with starter fluid but it dies as soon as the fluid burns off so i know it has spark.when you turn the key it does nothing.I can here the fuel pump prime in the back and can hear the injectors click but it wont start. the security light doesn't come on but the check engine light does when you turn on the key.he has replaced the ecu and the ignition switch with new keys,what is causing this? Is there something else making the vats trigger? thanks in advance for any advice.......

 

Sounds like one of the fusible links, that feed power to the entire car. They are located at the starter, hooked to the big terminal where the red battery cable also goes.
