Short Block Clean up with taking apart

Ok So Im in the process of an LT1 swap the engine has about 100K miles on it, I plan on doing some minor porting and polishing on the heads, intake and TB before the engine goes in.

I can't afford right now to rebuild the short block so I was wondering what the best way is to clean it up using either Synth oils or ATF fluid mixed with Synth oils, so on.

I will be dropping the pan to fix a dent and replace the oil pump.

Any suggestions are appreciated, just don't tell me to rebuild the short block

huh? cleaning it with atf? ok if the thing is already together and its not that dirty don't worry about it, unless theres alot of sludge and crap, if then clean it with some kinda solvent...like mineral spirits or acetone. Running Trans fluid through the motor won't do anything. Check the tolerances and make sure the thing doesn't need a rebuild, because the wise thing would be to rebuild it.
