norm oil press for 91 z28?

Today I drove a 91 z28 (that supposably has 54k miles). It ran about 30 for pressure. Half an hour later, I drove a 92 RS that had 84k miles, and its pressure was at 60. Both cars were good and warmed up. Just wondering what the norm was?

30 psi is definitely low. The rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1000 rpms, but normally, that ratio isn't in effect until 5000 rpm and up, normally 60 or more. The sending unit for the guage could just be bad, when that happened to my the guage showed some pressure, but very low, so if you want to check that you can stick a mechanical oil pressure guage on where the sending unit connects. If the mech. guage shows 30 psi, I'd stay away from that car. Good luck
