is 85 T/A TBI or TPI?
My brother found an 85 T/A in good shape with a bad motor. I want to put a 350 in it With the stock fuel injection but I want the tuned port not the throttle body. He doesn't know what it is and he's 16 hours away. What type did they use that year?
(please don't say both)

You could get three different 305 engine configs in 85. There was no TBI 305 in 85 FYI. Tell him to check to 8th digit of the VIN:
F = LB9/TPI
H = LG4/4bbl carb
G = L69/4bbl carb HO
------------------
88 GTA L98 SSM frame connectors Hotchkis STB ADS Offroad chip Transgo shiftkit All free mods
85 T/A LG4 WS6 Stock
F = LB9/TPI
H = LG4/4bbl carb
G = L69/4bbl carb HO

85 T/A LG4 WS6 Stock
There was no TBI available in 85. Only fuel injection on V8 cars was the TPI setup.

If you want TPI, dont get an 85 car, in my opinion. The computer isnt very good. Try to find an 89-92 TPI car, and if not that, 86-88.

That computer can be swapped out, the good thing about the 85 TPI is the cam.... Mike Davis and I did the ECM swap last summer and I think it is by FAR the best mod I have had done... love looking at that $961 burnoff module sitting in the top of my toolbox when I go out into the garage every day, I think I made up about 50 new curse words for that thing. Anyway you can see the details and pictures of the ECM swap at my web page below, and I have a link there to Mike's page where he shows exactly how to do it... hope this helps you out.
