Would I be out of line to ask 6 grand for my car?

Ok, its an 86 Trans Am, WS6 suspension package.

This is all the stuff thats been done in the past 4 months:

New paint : PPG Pewter Metallic base coat/clear coat (lifetime warranty), new aerowing from Hawks.

New Engine: 90 model 350 block
steel crank
eagle sir rods
speed pro hyper pistons
World Products Sportsman II heads
Stealth Ram intake
26 lb SVO injectors
everything on engine is brand new except pulleys, oil pan, and power steering pump. All other accessories are brand new. Engine has about 1500 miles

700R4 transmission has about 300 miles on it. Better than stock parts but no shift kit or stall (couldnt get warranty with them installed)

All exhaust is new from headers to flowmaster 80 series muffler.

Interior: New headliner (with new composite plastic board, visors, sail panels. Front seats from a '00 T/A. Only prob with interior are some light staining on drivers side floor board, and a little wear spot on drivers side seat. Everything else is perfect. Also has a B&M Megashifter.

Basically, everything has been either repaired, replaced, or repainted except for the rear end (has 9 bolt, took cover off about 3 months ago, looked in great shape) Tires were replaced about a month ago also.

Only reason I'm selling is I need something better on gas and if I can sell my car by the time I get my taxes back, I can almost pay cash for a small econobox (aka civic)

Thanks,
Herb

Forgot to add, it has t-tops that don't leak in normal conditions (some leakage by window when sprayed with a pressure washer at a direct angle)

Just FYI, this car has about 8,000 sunk into it not counting the cost of the car

I bet you could get $6,000 out of it. Esp. considering the new paint. If it was just the mods, I would've said good luck!

You can ask anything; whether anyone will pay it is another matter altogether.

You will never get what you put into it back out of one of these cars. Don't base your expectations for sale price on the cost to make it what it is; it ain't gonna happen.

It sounds like a nice car with lots of good stuff. But I doubt you'll see much past $4500 for it, realistically; especially not as old as it is.

Good luck!!! I hope I'm wrong. I'd like to see these cars increase in value.

But you never know what kind of moron you can find.. My buddy sold his UGLY 84 T/A (he put spraypainted sidepipes on, a spraypainted wing, and stickers galore) for $4,500. And it's high mileage and lightly modified with a 305 HO. Only good part about that car was the tranny...rebuilt 700R4 with a shift kit.

And I sold my 91 RS Camaro for $3000. And that was almost stock, original paint, and 106,000 miles.

You'd be amazed what you can get for a good looking, good running third gen.

well worth 6k

I good base/clear job runs min 3500.00

But why go r*ice your going to pay more for a civic, the MPG is between 28-35. I get consistant 21MPG combined city and highway, Im sure you get about the same.

Ok here is your grand saving based on a 15 gallon tank. This is on the high side, you will save approx 10.00 per tank full. If you have a loan on the civic the insurance is going to be 30.00 extra per month.

Sounds like your using the MPG excuss to buy r*ce, but I would bet you'll wish you never would have sold. Remember money CAN NOT buy that $hit *** grin when you roll the throttle on a 3rd gen. Try that with a civic

OH good luck, your car will sell for 6k. I have sold on carsonline.com with excellent results. It only cost 45.00 and it run until its sold. I did the slide show, the shelby durango sold in 3 weeks

You can get the $6,000.00

You'll have to sell it to an enthusiast tho, not just some schmuck who goes by book values and warranties. You have to find a buyer who is into modding and will appreciate the work you have already done. Good luck!

Hmm, sorry to steal the thread but how much could I get outta myn? K&N air filter, no more elec fan (prev owner), and otherwise all original I believe other than battery. Has foglights, but other than that is in EXCELLENT condition other than a very small key mark about: --------------------- that long on front left of the hood? Provided it is a H.O. L69 with 35k miles. Don't really plan on selling, even though I might if it's worth enough.
