Exhaust note changes

Every since I re-installed my distributor, even though i checked to make sure the timing was the same, the exhaust note on my car has changed slightly. I am not getting any codes but i am just curoius as to wheter that could be the cause. It really doesnt sound like pinging, but why else would the car sound different?

well what does it sound like?

could be a cracked manifold, a rusted hole somewhere, where the manifold reaches the pipe, it could be a bad connection/leaking gasket (if u have those kind)
