machined for new springs??

so...i heard that you had to have the exhaust spring seats machined if you are going to install performance springs.....is this true? any machining required or can ya just slap em on

Depends on what spirngs your going to use. If the diameter is bigger then stock then yes.;

makes sense to me! any reccomendations on springs thatll hold something like .480 lift and 7k revs?

you're going to have a hard time getting 7000rpm out of .480 lift cam. the spring seats need to be machined at least as large as the springs, cost around 2-3 dollars a seat to open up. look in your cam grinders catalog and buy the spring they recommend for the cam. .480 lift isn't enough info to base a chioce on, rollers and flat cams tend to take differant springs

well, i dont plan on 7k rpm pulls all the time, i just want it to be able to handle it IF i go that far.....what do you siggest?? use my Lt1 cam in the 350?? oh and yes, i want it to be roller, not hyd.

unless of course its just not worth the money itll cost to convert it to roller, ....i think it is though....

opinions?? suggestions?? this is going to be a balanced engine as well..

If you have stock rods, I would be more worried about them than the springs at 7000 rpms.

chances are im getting a full 383 kit...so yeah..new rods, crank, pistons ect ect
