which heads are best?

So here is the age old question of what aluminum heads should I get? I will begin with what I've got now. The engine is a carbed 383 with 8.7:1 comp. and no emmisions. This is a daily driver so streetability is a must. Preferably nothing less that a 64cc chamber. Current heads are stock with 76cc chambers. I've been seriously leaning towards the Trickflows, but somewhere I heard that AFR's can gain up to 60hp over stock. I'm open to all suggestions and brands. Price is a factor; budget being around $1300.

Boise eh, is used to live there. Go with some AFR 200 cc's, they are the best head you can get or the money!

AFRs are the best I think, they seem to flow the best of many many tested heads in the various magazines.

However, my race prepped AFR 190s cost me about $1400. Maybe you can find a better deal and stay within your budget. You will need to budget for a ported intake manifold (to make the most any aftermarket high performance heads that you might buy), cam, gaskets, etc.

It is the entire package that must be matched in order to expect the HP gains printed in magazines.

The TFS 23 degree heads look really really good for the price...can get them for $900 and they will probably only lose 15-20HP tops to the AFRs. And they are not CNC machined so an amateur with a catridge roll clea up could probably get them to perform right up there next with the AFRs, where as the AFRs take someone with a little more skill to get to flow more. Either way, AFR wins if you have the money and you just want to bolt them on and go.

Damn, Sounds like AFR take the pick. What kinda intake are we talking about? I've got an edlebrock performer right now.
