can my car wear this rear end gear ratio?

since I currently have a 3.08 rear end Posi unit, I heard this is a 2-series rear end, so i am assuming this part will fit? its a 3.73 gear and pinion set 2 series carrier. Any objections before I order?

A 3.08 is a 3 series not 2.

Are you sure, I thought 3.23 and nemerically higher was 3 series, and 3.08 and numerically lower was 2 series.

Well, it looks like the 7.5s are series 2 with 3.08s. I thought they were the same as a 8.5 as far as ratios went. Sorry.

As far as I know how the GM 10 bolt rear gears are, the 3.08 and 2.xx gears go with 2 series carriers. 3.23 and above are on 3 series carriers.

It appears that Richmond makes a 3.73 rear gear that fits on the 2 series carrier. I think that is what you want.
