OK,, I started my 395 cu.in. engine project today.
I dropped off a new 4 bolt main single piece rear main seal 350 block at an engine shop this morning. The block will be bored 30 over, align honed, and decked to about 9.015" deck height.
I am going to have them order an Eagle 4340 forged crank 3.875" stroke and 5.85" Eagle H-beam rods. This place prefers Eagle stuff. Also, SRP 148988 pistons (1.213" comp hgt) with 14cc recess will be used. This works out to be 10.0:1 AFR.
I plan on moving over to this new block my current heads and intake stuff: AFR 190 heads and Accel SuperRam base, runners, and plenum.
The cam that I have chosen so far is CompCams XR276HR 224*/230*/112* LSA...
The only thing that I dread is taking out the current engine by my self,, what a PITA thats going to be. The car is up on jack stands as I write this.
Comments are most acceptable and encouraged.

Hey Doc...good for you.
Only comment I have is many are running 350's in the mid to low 12's with the LPE219 cam, and many running 11's w a 383 and the LPE219...SR w/AFR 190/195's.
I'd think that big stroker would get busy with the same cam as wel...just something to consider....on "Paper" it's milder ni duration, which would lead to better street manners, IMO.
But anyway, doean't Comp have a newer line of HR cams?
I'm also jealous, since my garage is full of BS right now, I can't compete

Mike, how are you doing?,, and thanks for the comments.
Do you have the specs for the LPE219? I will look around the LPE site in a few minutes.
Since I have a 700R4 tranny and really just want to let the tranny shift itself when it feels like it, I dont expect the engine to see 6000RPM. RPM range of this cam is 1800-5800RPM. And its for hydraulic roller engines. I need the HP to peak at about 5500RPM max.
I will admit that CompCams web site with so many cams is daunting to say the least!

Hey Doc,
IIRC, the duaration is 219/219 but lift may be split...don't recall...but in any case I know the lift is in the .525 range w/1.5 rockers. Comp also has some very similar grinds, for about 25% less than LPE.
Have you tried the 800 number for Comp?
How am I doing...well....since winter has set in around here (and the garage is full of crap) I put up a "Temporary Garage"...ya know, the light weight poles and plastic coverings...anyway, I pulled the topend apart on the IROC a few weeks ago, thought I'd get busy...temp's were in the low-mid 40's (damn cold for me) so I firedup the torpedo heater to keep me warm...
Got everything cleaned up ready to install, took a lunch break and cmae back to find that the heater melted the sides off my "temp garage"...so I put the smoldering out and covered her up and haven't gotten back to it yet.
Hoping I can clear the shop out and roll it in soon....
Damn, I got 6 acres here, two barns, two shops/garages, and no room for my IROC.
All's I need for Xmas is 20 grand and my 40x60 is done

I hear yea, it sounds like you have my kind of luck. If it wasnt for bad luck, I wouldnt have any luck at all! Between my wife and I, we have 3 Camaros, an F150 and a Focus, 100'by100' lot and a two car garage. With the IROCZ in one bay and the wife getting the other spot, my Winter is sitting outside, till I can make this motor change. Well, I hope that things work out for you.
The LPE219 is 219/219/.560/.560(with 1.6 rockers)/?LSA,,, so your .525" lift with 1.5 rockers is correct.
I started any post about camshafts. I'm kinda torn between maintaining the SuperRam or switch to the HSR.
I figure that with 395 cubes (45 more than a 350), I will have plenty of bottom end grunt,, so maybe a better breathing top end intake system (the HSR) might give me the best overall performance,, but I really dont have a clue. I can try the SuperRam at first, then maybe I can install the HSR.
But what about the camshaft?
