This should be interesting. If you're running a 305 and it's naturally aspirated ie: no nitrous or blower/turbo, post your times and mods please. This can give me and others I'm sure a baseline on a future/current buildup. Also state if it's carbed, TPI or TBI. Thanks!

84305HO,
Good 1/4 time. Do you have new traction bars on that? That is a good 60' time. How much difference did the 1.6 rocker arms make and did you have to get taller valve covers? How much did the jetchip help? I just got the DH secondary rods for my carb. Haven't installed them yet. I'm assuming you have the 5spd since you have 3.73 gears.

KidIroc,
If you buy a 84 make sure it has the HO engine and a 5spd. You can add about .5 sec on the 1/4 if you get an auto tranny. The 305 HO was rated at 190hp vs. the 145hp 305. You have less mods to do to get your times down. The HO had electric fan, 4bbl quadrajet, dual snorkel air cleaner, and better cam.

84 Z28 305HO, 5spd, 220,000 miles, Edelbrock intake, Hedman headers, low restriction exh(w/cat), K&N air filter, air pump gone, AC gone, Best 1/4 so far 14.649 @ 94.77mph

The incredible Tim Burgess has the fastest n/a 305 I know of. He ran a 12.61 with his immaculate '92 Z28. I know this for fact because he did it against me at our local track. I need not remind everyone that he drives his car daily, is emissions legal and hauls!! When he races, he does use his Hoosiers on all four corners and his "track" exhaust. His burnouts are done at 6,000 rpm and are awfully impressive.

Tim bought his car new and is dark metallic teal, the only year third gen Z28's were offered in this color. It also has a gray leather interior.

Tim moderates the Electronics board, so if you would like his extensive list of mods, e-mail him. I'm sure he'd be glad to share it.

13.4 is the best I've done with my 305 so far. Check my signature for the mods.

My 305 does nearly 101 MPH in the quarter mile, and it's still the stock 133,000 mile shortblock. Everything else on the engine has been replaced though...

E/t 14.039 at 100.82 MPH. With Computer controlled Quadrajet. I think there's another 1 to 2 MPH left and about .4 seconds with tuning.

I have Spohns LCA's and relocation brackets
and BFG drag radials for enhanced traction.
Also for the Jet stage II chip I have a
160 thermostat and fan switch. I like to do
my mods in combinations to maximize effect.
The 1.6 roller tip rockers which is my only
real engine mod netted me about 1mph which
equates to about 10 hp and they fit under
stock valve covers.
Went to CK secondary rods which is one step
richer than the std DR L69 rod.

To 84305,
I said in above post I got DR rods. I got new AU rods. Got my letters mixed up. What brand roller rockers did you get? I am assuming the fan switch kicks the fan on at a lower temperature?
Thanks,
Craig

I used to run a 14.9 with mine. I am now running a 16.2 with the 350. I guess I have a lot of tuning to do.

You are 4 tenths better than me! You only have a ported plenum/hollwed cat on me and you have more weight! What did you run stock?? How much did you pick up from porting the plenum and hollowing the cat?
