Cold Weather Woes
Cold Weather Woes
My car is not starting. I didn't start it for about a week or so. Then when I went out to start it, it wouldn't. Jumped it and it started. But wont start the next day. A couple of days later it starts. Now it wont start and wont start when jumped. I first thought it was the battery, but then had second thoughts. Why would it start sometimes? Any help appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

Stale,
Presuming that the alternator is charging, and the battery is holding a charge, you may have a load that is draining the battery or a failing connection in the battery/starter circuits.
Parasitic load (standby) should be less than 350mA. That is so little that a fresh battery should not discharge to a "dead" state for at least a month.
And since it won't start with a jump, I would suspect a failing cable connection.
Check the cables, grounds, and starter connections first, then test the battery under load.
