recall ?'s

how do you know if your car has already been serviced after recalls were made? I am wondering cause i was reading on irocz.com that there were recalls on seat belt stuff a while back, but i dont know if the people who owned the car then took care of this
thanks

Dealers who repair car under recall are supposed to put a small decal listing the campaign number on the driver's door near the tire/weight information decal.

Actually, now they go on the radiator support.

If your car was like '91 or newer, you could have a dealer type your VIN into the VIS Database, and it will tell you if it has been done or not. If your car is older, it would be hard to tell.

Not to mention, just because it is the same year as yours, there are VIN breakpoints that your car must fall within, so there is a good chance you are not eligable.

they were able to check the vin on my 87 to tell me about the PS pump bracket tsb.. just needed the vin and proof of ownership.. as far as the seatbelts i was told it was never performed, but i couldnt do anything as they only run each campaign for i think 7 years? that he suggested finding the newer seatbelt latches in a boneyard...

Call you local dealer's service department and ask them about it. Give them your Vin number, an in 2 seconds they'll let you know if it's still outstanding or not. If it is, take it in, get free work. I received a new shifter cable and gas filler neck on my 92 Firebird today, compliments of GM. Hell, they coulda told me all I got was an ashtray or something and I'd have been happy.
