MSD O-Rings and Modified Engine Block

Has anyone ever installed the O-rings on the bottom distributor lands WITHOUT modifing the engine block. The instructions say that the seals can only be used on the modifed block, but all the modifications are some simple chamfered edges. I cant see what the trouble would be besides maybe risk during installation that they tear off and cause improper installation.

Any thoughts on leaving them on? They are supposed to increase the oil pressure by preventing oil from escaping past the gallery lands.

It will tear them up or off if your block isn't tapered, and you'll end up dropping the pieces into the block. Did you install the MSD with the O-Rings installed? Cause I would of thought it would have been hard if not impossible to seat the distr. without the block tapered.

No they aren't in.

I am going to call the engine builder and ask him if he tapered the edges. I told him I had an MSD but I never realized this requirement to specifiy the work. Oops!
