Loose Rod Side Clearance
I was miking my crank before assembling my bottom end, and I measured the rod sideplay at about .020". This is larger than max according to the book I've got. Does anyone have any comment on this?
Thanks

The book I have says .010" - .020"
I'm sure you'll be OK, but I'm sure someone else will chime in and let you know for sure.

i have a lot of manuals, but i'd go with .015 as max and around .008 as the least. of all the specs for an engine rod side clearance is the least important to me. i would check the thrust and see if it's over spec, that i'd worry about.

My stroker had abt .020 rod side clearance and I haven't had any issues. Abt the worst thing you'll encounter is slightly more oil being splashed onto the cyl walls which might lead to slightly more oil consumption.
