ok well before everyone tells me to get a 350 i just want to say im not looking to make MAJOR horsepower. Just around 300 - 350 out of my 305. Because im just gonna make do with what i got. Anyway, im debating between the L98s and Vortecs like the L31. Im aware that i would have to change to the scoggin dickie vortec tpi base. My questions are with the L98s aluminum is going to bump up the c.r. if so how much? Im already sitting on 9.5:1 with the stock bottom end. Ive ran the flow numbers in desktop dyno and the difference between the two isnt much. About 10hp more with the vortecs at 5500rpm does this sound about right? Ive got the TPiS 224/224 .495 picked out, any suggestions too much for that **** *** bore?
i'd worry more about the valves hitting the deck or being shrouded by the block, that is the chamber is wider than the hole. get all your specs and do the math to figure out the compression. you're going to spend more money, time, and effort to make less power than you could with a 350.

well thas not the answer i was looking for "get a 350" i want to make do with what i got, and what i got is a 305. I dont want to go out and have to drop another $1,400 on a short block. I realize i cant get a set of 64cc's on a 305. However i can mill them down to 58cc wich is the same as the stock ones, correct? Maybe down the road ill step it up to a 350, and when i do most of my parts will be able to swap over anyway.
