Do You Need A "key" To Get Stock Rims Off?

jsut like it says. blew out a tire and dont have the tire iron that came with the car it seems that one lug is smaller than the others. but it doesnt look like it needs a "key" like I ve used on other cars thnks

as long as all the lugs have the hex shape to fit a socket on 'em,,,then you shouldn't need a key.

The stock lugs on my '89 require one...kinda looks like a socket, with "teeth" inside of it...only for the one locking lug on each wheel.

yeah thats a key i didnt have one atleast on that wheel. just a diff size but looked stock thnks just got back and got it off my batt was dead too left the fing fan on as well to add insult yto injury. thnks for the help dam thatg was and expensive preety new tire as well sucks

I left myself high and dry once... bought new lugnuts, bought a folding 4-way tire iron, and left the original tire iron at home. Got a flat... no problem, pulled out the jack, and my shiny new tire iron, slid the jack under the car, and -- oh dammit -- it's rather hard to raise the jack without the original tire iron to use as a lever!!

Some of the factory lugnuts that look like chrome steel acorns had a metal cap over a "real" lugnut. If the cap ever twists off (happened to me), the lugnut becomes a little bit smaller- too small for the normal lugwrench.
