vortech heads/ manifold for tbi/ annoying problem

Did the engineers @ chevy come up with a intake manifold that will accompany these heads on my 305(minnie mouse)? Heres the problem, the manifold must be able to use the factory or holley t.b.i. unit. Looking for a direct fit in all aplications if possible. One other problem I am experiencing as of latley when the car slows down (automatic no shift-kit)it kicks down or bumps just before it brakes to stop. Local mechanic couldnt figure it out! any help please? thank you third. gen. heads!!!!!!!!!!

The good vortec heads are only made for 350's, and I dont know of one that will fit our TBI intakes.

The bumping problem in your tranny could be related to the TV cable. Mine did that when the TV cable became disconnected at the throttle linkage. It also shifted into the next gear way too early upon taking off from a stop. Check and see if it's still hooked up, and if so, try readjusting it.

there is a 305 Vortec rated at 230HP in the trucks. The engine is the L30, the 350 Vortec is the L31. the heads per pair are pricey at $754 but maybe you can find some off a truck. check the TBI board for more vortec head info. there are a couple good posts over there.

no the vortecs never came TBI. They were CPI or something. Not true 8 injectors. they had 8 popet hoses running fuel to the intake valve.

If you're using vortec heads you need a specific vortec intake, because bolt patterns on a vortec head won't accept regular SBC intake bolt patterns. Get an Edelbrock Performer RPM Vortec Intake or Performer RPM Air-gap Vortec intake. Then go to Holley and get a carb -> TBI adapter. Hope this helps
