i've had heads, intakes, valve covers, you name it off for days, weeks, even months, maybe even years with no problems. i didn't let them sit out in the weather or go out of my way to dump dirt in the engine.

My '81 has been sitting in my field for over three years now.
I know there's freaking field mice living in the exhaust, and those little buggers are in for a rude awakening when time comes to start her. Talk about a potato gun!!!

Being damp outside will keep the dust down, so you should be ok.

I had my intake and valve covers off for two weeks and everything was okay. Just keep the hood closed and a rag over the lifter galley if you are doing other things to the car. Dust gets everywhere when you have your car in a pole barn or garage.
