NEED HELP FAST, REAL FAST!!!
Ok, i'm working on my car right now w/ my brother. We're putting a valve cover on the passenger side and have a clearance problem.. This thing holds the air-check valve right next to the alternator and above the smog pump, and is physically keeping the cover about 1" to 1 and 1/4" above the gasket..Do i bang the hell out of it w/ a hammer to make it move?
Also, possibly as important, the right passenger door won't close tight. It goes "bang" and bounces back, looks like this pin thing is stuck up. What do i do? Thanks

I am trying to put a valve cover on too. I have the driver's side on but not the passengers. So someone answering this would be helpful for me too.

I have no clue about the covers, but I did the same thing with my door one day. I was messing with the pin and I heard a little "click" and the pin was in a different spot, all I can say is that you have to mess with it and pull up on the door handle at the same time until you get it. That's all I did. If it weren't so cold outside I'd go do it and then explain it to you, but it's one cold **** out there.

Neo, or any one else interested in removing that Pain of a Passenger side Valve Cover, Here are the steps I wrote down when i took it off (helps in re-installation)
These are for my 1984 Trans Am (305 V8) so u guys with a 87 or later it will be a bit different so I don’t know what you’re up against.
Parts Needed: Valve Cover Gaskets, Permatex 2BR (non-hardening), EGR valve Gasket, Aftermarket Valve Cover (if u want to spiff it up), Breather that fits hole, Possibly some of that brittle Vacuum Tubing, & ZIP ties.
STEPS
1) UNPLUG BATTERY (bad things could happen if u don’t! TRUST ME)
2)Remove bolts & hold downs to valve cover
3)there is a 2 pin insert to the EGR solenoid, remove this
4)Remove all wiring harnesses from top of carb (clear all wires out of the way)
5)May be necessary to detach the 02 sensor
6)Drain Coolant
7)Remove Heater Hose
8)Remove Spark plug wires to passenger side
9) Remove the Ground on top of the alternator bracket (on intake manifold) 14MM used
10)Unplug the coolant temperature sensor
11)Unclamp ties to the AIR hose running from Driver's side
12)AIR pump valve right next to bottom right must be detached, is also hooked to alternator
13)Remove bottom clamp of alternator (this moves a bracket that may prove difficult and cause unsightly scratches to your new valve cover)
14)Remove EGR solenoid
15)Remove Valve Cover
16)Remove old Gasket
17)place new Gasket with non-hardening glue (i use permatex)
18)Insert New Valve cover
19)Installation is reverse of removal (for all Haynes Manual Fans)
Some notes... This will take a while: so have your food, or beer, or music, or whatever handy. Also one of those Garage Lamps comes in really handy. There are little vacuum hoses that are brittle and will snap, so it may be helpful to remove these also, make sure you have a vacuum diagram.
( THIS REALLY SHOULD BE IN THE TECHNICAL ARTICLES )
