code 32 without an egr
code 32 without an egr
Hello, I've got the following problem.
I've got a code 32 but no EGR anymore, The egr sensor is still in the car but I blocked off my EGR with a plate. The code comes after 5 minutes of driving and dissapears when I accelerate (and reappears when I decellerate). After a while Ch. engine light stays on and a code 32 is set. Can a clogged catalic converter cause a code 32 like this, because I don't have an air system anymore and I still use the original 16 year old cat on my car.

If you've blocked off your EGR, the only way you're going to get your SES light to go off is faking out the sensor. I've read a couple of posts explaining how to do this, but I've forgotten. Anyone?

The most effective way is to have the EGR switch disabled in the eprom. This is what most people do if they go to heads that do not support an EGR.
For a 1985 LG4, I cannot fully confirm this as I do not have the definition file for that eprom. But it is on all the other definition files I have and seen.
Try the PROM board to see what some of the PROM guys say that have that definition file.

I thought when I left the EGR switch still in my car the ECM wouldn't see the difference. The EGR switch just sends out vacuum to the EGR port doesn't it. So how could it tell the EGR isn't functioning properly.
p.s. thanks for the fast reply...
