Lightest third gen?

What is the lightest third gen? Someone just told me that in 82, the base firebird was 2800lbs? I didnt know that you could have the car weigh that little?

base firebird with the LQ9 L4 might've been the lightest
I would stick with the V8 power though
89 formula may be one of the lightest V8 fbodys
got no reliable data though

The 82's are the lightest F-bodies ever made. You could get them close to 2800 #'s with a four cylinder and a little less then 3000#'s for a 305 V8.

Possibly a 2.5 ID car is light. Ive ran out of gas enough to know my car is heavy.

My 88 IROC-Z is 3200lbs with 1/3 tank of gas; I thought that was pretty good, but I'm sure the 82-83's are lighter.

My 88 formula 305TPI A4 with full interior, spare tire and jack, 1/4 tank of gas, t-tops, power locks and windows, and Ram Air II hood weighed in at 3400lbs even with no driver.

Sports car my ***.

See thats just plain sad. My 76 short box with a SBC weighs in at 3000 with 3 gallons of gas add me 230 and its still lighter then most 3rgens. I would really estimate my 82 would be around 3300 without driver, guess its time to hit the scale.

2875/3169 (std/Z28) for the '82 model year.

pretty light.

thats with an automatic transmission.

figure with the 4-speed saginaw, which is only about 80lbs.

and no a/c, or emissions equipment.

probably right around 3,000lbs for a Z28.
