Double hump heads came on the corvette fuellie engines and were good castings in their day. With the advances in head technolgy and the affordable price of aluminum heads I see no reason to buy these 30+ year old heads then spend the money to have them worked.

They also came on sleds in 69 and 70, 350s in Impalas and station wagons. Those had the accessory bolt holes that our cars need. That's what I have on my 400.
The other post is right though; I have enough machine work in mine to take over $800 to replace. Back when I first started building these up, there were no AFRs or Fast Burns or Edelbrocks or any other over-the-counter products like that, especially not at that kind of price. The only real opion we had was to dig up a set of the best junk we had and try to turn it into something fast. Nowadays you can get better power by far with the aftermarket pieces, ready to bolt up out of the box with basically no risk, and have aluminum besides.

The only reason you would want them is if you race in a class that requires stock parts such as Stock Eliminator. If not then heads such as Dart's are better right out of the box and cost less since all the machine work is already done.
Camel back heads are a deal if you can buy them for much less than $100. If any work has been done such as larger spring pockets, screw in studs, large valves then the price will go up but the heads are still old technology and better aftermarket heads are easily available.
