Hey guys. I remember that with aluminum heads in pre LT1 block that 10.5:1 is really highest you can run on 92 octane, but this 100 octane really opens up some more doors as far as my new motor is concerned...How much CR do you think I can safely run with 100 octane? 11.5, 12?

well one of my friends has a v-8td s-10 truck, and he runs airplane fuel (avgas) and he has about 13:1 compession in his 383 stroker. i'd say 12:1

I would say 12.5-.75 would be the limit. My question is why? What happens when you need gas in B.F.E.? Besides if you can run on normal gas you can look around for the cheap stuff.

It's 2.99 a gallon for 100 octane...I was just thinking how cool it would be to run Victor Jr. 23* heads and CNC ported matching intake. It's supposed to give you 550+ horses, but that number is significantly reduced if you can't run a higher compression.

I guess I could just get some milder heads and build up my shortblock for a 6-71 or something, but I like high powered N/A motors. This isn't a daily driver by any means...

High compression builds torque. HP just comes along for the ride.

OK fine, so I can get boatloads more torque Either way to get me down the 1/4 mile faster.

I don't think it matters at this point, because I might have just scored a 454.
