A lot of people I've talked to lately have poo pooed the tbi, but I have not heard much about the 4bbl. Is the tbi better or the q-jet?

Swapped from TBI to 4bbl carb a couple of months ago, lost 9 to 13% in fuel mileage. Gained ALOT in HP. I'll take the HP and live with 25.3 mpg. The TBI got 27.9 mpg.

 

27.9 mpg? is your car anorexic?

 

My old Firebird LO3 got 28MPG.

ok sorry to anyone who has and likes q-junk's but they "suck" tbi is ok and worlds better than a q-junk anyday!! a holley or edlebrock is the only way to go if you get rid of tbi. i converted to carb from tbi. if you do this ask me any question you could possibly have?.

1989 firebird formula

Mods: converted from T.B.I. to a carburator 305 to a 350. Flowmater exhaust,hedman shortie hedders,202 heads,350 horse cam,bored.40 over, Edlebrock torker2 intake.

Future mods performer rpm air gap intake (polished) and 600 edlebrock carb, comp roller cam, and way better headsa 400 defintely in the works!
